It's Time to Get Ready for the Pageant!
It’s time to plan the annual First Congregational Church of West Tisbury’s Christmas Eve Pageant which takes place at the Ag Hall on Tuesday, December 24 at 5:00 pm. For those of you who have attended or participated in the past, you know that hundreds of people look forward to the Pageant as part of their Christmas tradition.
Things are already happening! Brian Weiland has begun rehearsing with the Joyful Noise Choir - please see his invitation below. We also have a quartet from our Bell Choir to add some additional musical color to the service.
By the end of the week, casting will be wrapped up. Our first pageant meeting for all participants will be on Sunday, December 15 from 2:00 - 3:00 in the Parish Hall of the Church.
If your child would like to participate, please register right away and let us know if they are interested in a particular role. Click here to register.
Please feel free to forward this email to friends and encourage wider participation!
From Monday, December 16 to Friday, December 20, there will be short, after school rehearsals scheduled for the different cast groupings (e.g. angels, kings, barnyard animals, etc). We will do a run through in the church Parish Hall on Sunday, December 22 and then a dress rehearsal at the Ag Hall on Monday, December 23 (both from 2 - 4 pm).
We hope you will join us for this most magical time of year!
With anticipation and excitement,
Rev. Cathlin Baker, Elle Lash, Sarah Ream and Anne Caldwell
VOLUNTEER HELP NEEDED
It really takes a village. Please help be a part of making this very memorable evening happen. Click here to Sign up to help.
Some of the many jobs needed to make the Pageant happen are listed below.
Pageant Logistics: We welcome volunteers for set up, decoration and clean up as well as for on-site support during the pageant, such as help with parking.
Costume Team: A costume team will assess the costumes the week before Christmas Eve and be on site for both the 12/23 rehearsal and the 12/24 pageant.
Stage Hands: We need 5-6 volunteers to attend to the children during the service. This is an ideal job for a teenager who likes to work with children. They lead the procession toward the stage at the right time, then sit nearby to assist if any of their assigned children need assistance.
Please let Anne Caldwell know if you can volunteer in any of these ways. She can be reached at fccowt.pageant@gmail.com.
ATTENTION SINGERS!!
JOIN THE JOYFUL NOISE CHILDREN'S CHOIR
Featured in the Pageant
Brian Weiland, music teacher at the Oak Bluffs School, is once again gathering the Joyful Noise Choir for the Christmas Pageant. The songs will be familiar to most, and the choir will be reading from a songbook in any event, so nothing needs to be memorized.
If your child wishes to be part of the choir, please attend these rehearsals in the Oak Bluffs School Music Room from 2:45 - 3:45 pm:
Tuesday, December 10
Thursday, December 12
Tuesday, December 17
Thursday, December 19
Feel free to contact Brian with any questions via email or by texting 508-560-6001.
